WORLD STARS SIEGE DOHA

WORLD STARS SIEGE DOHA DIAMOND LEAGUE 2012



The first in a series of fourteen Diamond League meet starts today in Doha, Qatar, and there is high anticipation among track and field fans as it promises to be a showdown between some of the world's best athletes.  Included in the list of competitors are fourteen of Jamaica's brightest and best male and female athletes.   

Jamaican's top-four female sprinters will start in the women's 100 meters. Veronica Campbell Brown and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price will go head-to-head for the first time this season and will face strong competition from American Allyson Felix.  The line-up also includes the current Olympic silver medalists Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart.

In the men's 100 meters race Jamaica also has four athletes taking part. They included Asafa Powell, Lerone Clarke, Nesta Carter and Jacques Harvey.  The quartet will will have to contend with the ever improving former Olympic champion Justin Gatlin of the USA.

Brigitte Foster-Hylton runs in the women's 100 meters hurdles and is expected to continue her good season form. The Jamaican pair of Melaine Walker and Kaliese Spencer will clash in the 400 meters hurdles race. Stephanie McPherson, also of Jamaica, will also make her presence felt in the event.

Rasheed Dwyer, Marvin Anderson and Mario Forsythe will challenged the American Walter Dix for men's 200m top spot.
