Traves Smikle of Calabar (Jamaica) shattered the meet record in the high school boys discus championship today with a toss of 228′ 2″ (69.55 meters). The previous record was 191-11 (58.50), set last year by Chad Wright, also of Calabar.
Second-place finisher Samuel Mattis (East Brunswick, NJ) was also beyond the meet record, with 201′ 2″ (61.32).
