VCB Tipped by TrackVibez Poll

The results of a TrackVibez poll conducted between April 14 and April 30 2011 showed that  53% of respondents favoured Veronica Campbell-Brown to be the most dominant among her local female sprinting rivals this season.

She came out on top in the voting against nine (9) other local stars including Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price (23.5%), Kerron Stewart (23.5%), Sherone Simpson (0%), Aleen Bailey (0%),  Simone Facey (0%), Sherri-ann Brooks (0%), Carrie Russell (0%), Anneisha McLaughlin and Samantha Henry (0%).

Despite the fact that many of these athletes are yet to open their season in any of the two short sprint events, quiet a number of them have given us sneak previews into what they have in store this season, including Campbell-Brown.  In January she clocked a winning time of  7.11 seconds over the 60 meters distance and posted a respectable 52.25 seconds in the 400 meters back in March.

There seem to be a strong backing for VCB's dominance, especially in the the 200 meters, to extend over into 2012 and the London Olympics.  Her fans have created a Facebook page titled "VCB Campaign for 200m gold in 2012" in support of her successful defense of the title at the 2012 Games.  It is a long way from now and you have to wonder if Campbell-Brown will have enough "gas in the tank" to pull off a third individual Olympicgold.

In the meantime we await the fireworks at this weekend's Jamaica International Invitational Meet as an explosive field line up for the women 200 meters.
